Why I Decided to Build a Social Bookmarking App (And Why You Might Love It)

Miss Delicious? I did too! I built a social bookmarking app to organize and share my discoveries, fixing what’s missing in existing tools. Simple, fun, and effective!

Remember Delicious? That magical land where you could save links, tag them neatly, and discover cool stuff from other people? Yeah, I miss it too. Sure, we have other bookmarking tools today, but let’s be real—none of them quite capture the simplicity and social magic that Delicious had.

So, I scratched my own itch and decided to build my own.

The Itch: A Place for My Discoveries

I’m always stumbling upon great articles, deep-dive threads, hidden gems, and tools I know I’ll need later. But where do I keep them? Browser bookmarks? A messy graveyard. Note-taking apps? Too clunky. Read-it-later apps? More like read-it-never apps.

I wanted a simple, organized, and centralized place to keep my discoveries—and share them with others. Because what’s the point of finding something awesome if you can’t say, “Hey, check this out!”?

The Second Itch: Existing Alternatives Are… Almost There

Let’s be fair—there are some decent bookmarking tools out there. But each one seems to be missing something important:

🚫 Poor organization? No thanks.
🚫 No social aspect? Boring.
🚫 Hard to search through my own bookmarks? Unacceptable.
🚫 Clunky UI? I refuse.

My goal is simple: fix these small but serious problems and create a platform that’s easy, fast, and actually enjoyable to use.

The Plan

  • Super smooth bookmarking – Add, tag, and find links effortlessly.

  • A joy to browse – Discover new things from like-minded people.

  • Clean, simple, yet powerful UI – No clutter, no confusion.

  • Smart search & organization – Because a good bookmark is a findable bookmark.

This is just the beginning, but I’m excited to bring back that old Delicious magic—with a modern twist.

If this sounds like something you’d love, stay tuned. Better yet, join me on this journey! 🚀
